Great establishment if you're a tourist. Decent vistas, and food is not that bad. They promote sea food of course but please a disclaimer; this is not local caught fish, many that's okay. Not many places at the beach to local. If you doubt ask the staff. It's frozen and again that's okay. The portions are satisfactory and predictably fried, broiled, or fried. They push the she- crab soup as do most fish eateries here at the beach. It's decent...a little heavy but over all good. If you are here for the first time and settled in one of the myriad motels near the Conch Cafe please go. You won't be disappointed...but if your a local I'd stay away and maybe go to the fish mongers,( Harrelsons is my favorite and seven seas as well but be careful with Murrells inlet seafood, The last two times I went the fish eyes were cloudy, it smelled way to fishy and well just not pleasant, maybe it was an off day!) in Murrells Inlet and make your own dinner.

Very disappointed she crab soup was not that great actually out of the four people in our party nothing was good except for the plain BLT my younger sister asked for that wasn't even on the menu. The spiked Arnold Palmer I ordered was probably one of the worst mixed drinks I've ever ordered at a restaurant. Oh and the service was horrible to top it off. The only reason I even gave it two stars was because of the beautiful view.

Came back the following night, as the rest of the family arrived. We put out name in and our number. The wait was 1 hour+. We were called in 30 minutes and we walked across the street. We sat on the deck and it was a very hot evening. Waitress was very pleasant. We had 11 in our party including kids, a toddler, and adults. Took 20 minutes for the food and when it arrived only one set of French fries were cold. The server replaced them with an entire basket at no charge. Our waters were filled with water and ice fairly consistently. Considering the big party, it was a very good experience. I had the po boy this time and it was really good. Too bad they close at 9 during the week, would be a great place to get drinks late night.

Surprisingly good! Service was super and all the food was very tasty. I had a delicious she-crab soup and a chicken salad clearly made with freshly cooked chicken. My aunt had a beautiful flounder sandwich with a perfect golden crispy breading. My mom had a nice seafood salad (with Krab, not crab). Very good key lime pie for dessert. I'll definitely eat here again.

The food was delicious but we felt like we were rushed through dinner. Plates were taken away with lots of perfectly cooked french fries still to be enjoyed. Seriously awesome French fries! I'm thinking it may have been the end of the shift for our waitress but what a shame... I would have enjoyed another fat tire if we weren't rushed

This was by far one of the best meals we had at the beach. The atmosphere was great the drinks were amazing and sitting right on the beach. You couldn't ask for anything more. This will definitely be a place we visit again.

We went here for dinner and we sat outside. Great view and location. We had a nice waitress who was fairly attentive. I ordered conch fritters for an appetizer. They were ok, kinda doughy for me. Main course was fried oysters and grilled shrimp and it came with fries and coleslaw. Everything was pretty good, but I felt as though it was a little overpriced for what you got. I'm not sure if I'd go back or not based on value more than anything.

This place has a great view!! You are right on the ocean and the prices are good for the location. The she crab soup was pretty good and my husband got the fish tacos and he was happy with them. My parents got the seafood platter and they liked theirs. My son's chicken strips were ok. Overall it is a great location and the food is pretty good.

Only go to this place for the atmosphere and the cheap, cold draft beer. Those factors are the only reason this place isn't getting a 1 star. Don't come hungry because you do not want to eat here. We visited this place after getting off the plane, before we headed down to Pawleys Island. We were not looking for brilliant food, just something decent in a nice location. We came here with no high expectations. But we did expect the food to be good enough to eat. I did not know it was possible to render a Shrimp Po-Boy inedible. This place did it. Grossly overcooked shrimp and then covered with cheese! It was simply gross. My husband's crab salad wasn't much better. And by the way, Conch Cafe is not in Murrells Inlet. It is in Garden City. Murrells Inlet is not on the beach.

I'm not sure what happened when I first visited (and reviewed) Conch Cafe, but we have returned numerous times and had wonderful experiences. It is now a favorite, and we visit at least once every time we go to the beach (which is often). Two items are so great that I simply alternate between them: (1) The Soup and Half Sandwich Combo. Their She Crab Soup is fantastic, and paired with half a tuna salad sandwich (which I request with extra mayo and the bread toasted) is outstanding. (2) French Dip. This is not on their menu, but if you go on a Saturday or Sunday for lunch, they usually have it. Outstanding, with a great quality meat. (They have prime rib on the weekend nights and use the remaining meat from this for the sandwiches). Amazing stuff. The service can be spotty, but all in all is still acceptable. Love the food, love the ambiance - and more specifically the gigantic deck overlooking the ocean.

Nyum! Came down to SC for the first time to Murrell Inlet to visit in law grandparents and grandpa took us here!! Right on the water, cozy and touristy, huge outdoor terrace. Had conch fritters which were not oily, perfectly crispy and quite delicious with just a hint of conch! I also had the shrimp po boy which was my first time having a po boy and it was YUM! I really really enjoyed it. The pina colada I had was also quite yummy and you could taste the alcohol! If I go to SC then I would definitely go back. Service was pretty good as well but I did feel a little forgotten being inside.

My wife and I decided to eat at the Conch Café for 2 reasons - first, we ate here a couple years ago and enjoyed our meal and second, we could walk up the beach from our condo. We arrived on a Thursday night around 7:00 and had to wait a few minutes for a table on the deck. We had a beer at the bar and the bartender was gracious. The owner/manager was behind the bar and was very friendly as well. Once seated our server took our order for conch fritters and they came out a few minutes later. He took our dinner order and brought my wife's salad. After about 15 minutes, our server did notice our beers were empty and we ordered a couple more. We were expecting our food at any moment but another 20 minutes went by. We watched the table next to us get their food - they were seated when we were eating appetizer / salad. We overheard our server tell the table behind us that their food was up and that he would be right back with it - they were seated well after us also. At this point we realized that our waiter had forgotten to put our order in and we were in for another 20 minute wait once the order was actually put in. We got up and found our waiter at the bar and asked for our bill wanting to pay for our beers and fritters and leave. The waiter was able to print our bill without having to have it adjusted meaning our entrees had never been ordered! The bill was $18 and change and I left a $20 and mentioned what had happened to the owner/manager as my wife and I were leaving. The bartender from earlier tracked us down outside and did give me the $20 bill back which was appreciated. We understand mistakes happen but there was a discussion between the manager and the hostess about our waiter before we were seated - someone knew something but ...

Stopped in for a quick bite to eat in my board shorts and was not disappointed. Great location next to the beach and awesome service. Had chicken strips with a side of buffalo sauce and my prego wife really liked their mashed potatoes. The pulled pork sandwich was ok. Overall we were pleased with our meal here.

The view is certainly worth a stop. The server was very attentive and friendly. The meal however was not memorable. We both ordered a salad with ahi tuna. The tuna was prepared as requested but had no flavor. Being fans of ahi tuna and ordering it regularly we were disappointed that it was nothing more than a piece of fish on a bed of greens. A little attention to seasoning would have made the meal memorable. The view is truly lovely so try something different on the menu and you will probably be very happy. Just can't rate it higher since our meal was pricey but not tasteful.

I will echo another review, do lunch, not dinner due to cost. Not a bad place, just not worth the cost for dinner. Parking lot is horrendous. Walk if you can. Nice ocean front beach view. Call ahead to reserve outside view with seating. She crab soup is good. Everything else is OK.

Had nice lunch with relatives - view was spectacular (cue the dolphins!). Nothing special or exceptional to review - food was okay and service was good. Prices are high - parking lot is awful - View and company made the meal 3 stars -

We like coming here as a family. It's pretty easy to get outdoor seating on the patio above the beach, which is nice. The food is really good, although a bit overpriced. They were accomodating and the staff was friendly. We come here for a more casual dinner on the beach for seafood when we are in town.

One of our favorite places for lunch when we are here. Nice atmosphere, great view especially if you opt for outside seating and friendly service. Today I had the buffalo shrimp which were quite tasty. My husband had the conch sea sampler (grouper fingers, conch fritters, shrimp wrapped with bacon and a shrimp pasta salad) with a very good cocktail sauce made in house according to the waitress. We like ours with a little bite to it as too often it's mostly just ketchup with not much horseradish at many places.

Great little seaside restaurant. Choose from sitting inside or outside overlooking the beach. Food is good and fresh. Havent really tried much on the menu as we normally stop for lunch or appetizers and drinks (try the margaritas). The staff is friendly and very attentive. Would recommend this place if youre is the area.

We saw this place as we were driving by and decided to walk down there for lunch while waiting for our condo to be ready for check-in. The place is right on the beach and has an awesome view of the oceanfront. The weather was great so it wasn't a difficult decision to sit outside on the deck. We were seated immediately and our server was great. He was knowledgeable about the menu and able to offer plenty of suggestions. He joined in a little light-hearted banter but never over stayed his welcome. He kept the drinks flowing and our food came out quickly. The portions were generous and everyone enjoyed their meals. I had the fish tacos on our server's recommendation (I had planned to get them anyway, but it's nice to let them think they talked me into it!) and thoroughly enjoyed them, the fries were good too. Others in the family enjoyed the she-crap soup, mozzarella sticks, salads and a burger with blue cheese. All good "lunch at the beach" food. We all enjoyed the experience and may wander down there again later in the week if only for drinks and appetizers and to enjoy the view. Actually, I have no idea what the inside of this place even looks like, so you'll have to check other reviews for that. Speaking of other reviews, I was surprised to see some of the others on here. If you're expecting some grand fine-dining experience then you're in the wrong place. The Conch Cafe is perfectly good for what it is - a beach cafe, and a great little place to take the family for lunch, though probably not dinner.

Visited the Conch Cafe this afternoon. It was a late lunch, early dinner. There were actually 3 tables of brave souls sitting outside on the porch along the beach. We opted to sit inside. There were only 3 occupied tables in the dining room. We were seated away from the windows overlooking the ocean. We asked the waitress f we could be re-seated. She agreed although clearly not happy about it. From that point on, she was all business. One friend had the she-crab soup which she raved about. The table shared the shrimp/bacon appetizer. All gave it a fair rating. I had the burger which was okay even thought the state of SC will not allow me to have it cooked to my preference. There was no lingering as the waitress cleared plates as soon as diner's were done regardless if others were still eating. She presented the check which was paid by credit card and picked it up before we'd even gotten ready to depart. Maybe this place is more fun when there are more people in the place. I found it dreary.

Right on the ocean front. Best app is bacon-wrapped shrimp - absolutely excellent. Lots of frozen drinks to chose from, if that's your thing. Good place to grab lunch on the beach. Food is solid but what gives it 4-stars is the view and patio, beachy feel.

Pitchers of Long Island Iced Teas on the patio? In my swim trunks and a tank top? Twist my arm. Awesome spot on the beach. Food and service were good each time.

Great restaurant with fantastic ocean front dining. Service was 5 star. No need to ask for refills. Server offered suggestions. He was spot on. Seafood salad was full of shrimp, scallop and crab blend salad on top of a garden salad. Wonderful balance. Generous portion for $12. Accompanied with a nice sangria $6. Special of the day was Golden tile sandwich. Perfectly prepared served with sweet potato fries by accident but server immediately brought out the requested slaw. Child flounder was huge. Nicely fried and served with fries. Big doggie bag. $7.50 Conch fritters were good. I've had better but still good just not enough conch to say great. Only downside of the whole meal. I would definitely go here again. Service was great. Food was great. You can't beat the view.

Yesterday afternoon, we stopped by the Conch Cafe to get a quick snack and to sit on their wonderful deck to watch the beach goers. The Conch is a two minute walk for us. We have been here many times over the past fifteen years. Mike and I both got one of their specialty drinks called a Nutty Monkey. It is one of the best frozen alcohol drink I have had. We also shared their bacon wrapped shrimp for a snack. Shrimp wrapped in bacon, breaded and fried. Quite good. We went back later in the evening for dinner. Casual clothing is the way to dress. Prepare to wait for a table if you are in a large group. Mike chose the She Crab Soup. I chose the shrimp cocktail. Mike said they have one of the best She Crab Soups around. My shrimp cocktail had six large shrimp with cocktail sauce. The shrimp were chilled, firm and delicious. For dinner, Mike ordered the Beach Club Melt and I had the Beach Burger. The Beach Club Melt was grilled ham, turkey, bacon and Provolone Cheese with tomato, lettuce and mayonnaise on white bread. For an up charge, Mike ordered onion rings. My Beach Burger came with a choice of cheese, and lettuce, onion, tomato and mayonnaise. For an extra dollar, you could order it topped with grilled onions, mushrooms, bacon or jalepenoes. Sides were fries, chips or slaw. The burger was prepared the way I ordered it and was quite tasty. It's not for a gourmet dinner, but it is great beach food. The reason for three stars - over the past fifteen years, the menu has not changed. But because of their view, they don't have to. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. They do close for the season - November through February. I have to remember to take photos of Mikes food.

I've now been here 2xs - both amazing The She Crab soup is the best I've had View and service you cannot beat either! If you are thinking about it - you're done looking Can be dressy but I stopped in after a jog on the beach and it was fine too

Right when I walked in, the view from the large deck windows were so nice I knew I had to stay. There is just something amazing about eating dinner on the beach at sunset I just can't find elsewhere. The folks that work here have been at it for over 30 years, and they definitely have a system that seems to work. After wandering in the first week of the season they open in February, the place had quite a few patrons, though not too busy. With lots of drink specials to choose from, I was on vacation in minutes. The fish tacos were good, and quickly delivered! Oh, and the sweet potato wedges were huge, give them a try if you drop by. Cheers!

Great food right on the beach. Inside or outside eating. We sat out in the desk to watch the ocean. Outstanding seafood and must finish with the key lime pie. The frozen drinks are a little weak. Great service.

My family and I dined there during a recent vacation to Surfside Beach. The location is great for those staying at Oceanside Village or surrounding areas. It is a classic beachside restaurant where several diners show up in swim wear and some sand sticking to their bodies. The waitstaff is friendly and the view is wonderful from their outside dining area. The food was very good, perhaps not the best on our trip but the fact that we could stroll in from the beach makes this worth the five star rating. I wouldn't hesitate to come here again. The prices are reasonable as well.

This was the third visit for us over the past five years while on vacation. We had a good experience two years ago. Upon entering, the hostess was very kind and even complimentary. We were seated almost immediately outside. Our experience began to dwindle here. The pace was beginning to pick up for the restaurant and the person who seemed to be the manager was speaking to the hostess TERRIBLY. He was so loud that we heard him criticize her seating choices several times. One party was even asked to move after they had already been seated. The food was mediocre, not bad, not great. My kids were looking forward to some hush puppies but they don't serve these. Even though this isn't necessarily the establishment's fault, there were houseflies overtaking our food (maybe 50?). The view is indeed gorgeous, so it might be worth your visit for that alone. Overall, we are sad to say we won't be back.

After living here 10 years we've been here many times. Oceanfront so can't beat the view. Food is good but nothing super special. Tonight we came with a party of 10 and spent $$$ with no less than 5 appetizers in addition to alcohol and dinners all around. First parking was a problem. Had to wait 30 min for a spot. But the killer was our waiter came over after we had paid the bill and said the manager said he needed the table for others!!!! We were floored!!! He was asking us to leave immediately! I was so embarrassed. Ill never be back. Also same place my niece had seafood salad a month earlier and got food poisoning. I just don't believe asking someone to leave is justified.

Right on the beach. Sit outside and enjoy the view. The shrimp pasta salad was good per my husband. I had the small Caesar with crab cake was delicious. I was surprised that there were two crab cakes on the salad. She crab soup was good too. Enjoyed the nutty monkey drink. Very yummy.

Very delightful. Menu simple and well prepared. Great deck on the beach with polite and attentive service. Good for families. Very nice portions for a reasonable price. Best crab cakes in the area.

We've been here many times. Service is always good. Today it was fast as well. All of the staff were in high-speed mode. Food was good. Atmosphere is perfect. Onion rings are better than fries.

This was a great choice while on vacation at the beach! The service was outstanding and it is right on the water so that you may enjoy listening to the waves as your eat. We started off with an order of calamari, which was perfect! For dinner I had the seafood combo or 2 and chose fried shrimp and oysters. The food was great but I did feel the portions on my combo were a little small, but do keep in mind that I came to eat! My wife had the fish tacos which were a nice size and she said they were great. I would definitely visit again on my next trip to the beach!

I visit family from time to time in the area and they really like Conch Cafe. For me, it has always been so-so but with a nice view of the beach but unremarkable food. Basically...forgettable. However my last trip in June 2015 was regrettably not forgettable. I ordered a fish sandwich with mahi. Bottom line, the fish was so dry, mealy, and tasteless that it was completely indistinguishable from the bread it was served on. My brother had the same thing and after a few bites we simply looked at each other in disbelief that anyone could serve that. The others in the party seemed to have no complaints, but no compliments either. I think yelp's "meh" rating is dead on.

  • John W.

We had dinner here last night. There was a 45 minute wait but luckily 2 seats at the bar. The bartender was great but the food was just alright. We had the large combination platter which was missing the crab but otherwise pretty good. No hush puppies so that was sad. View was very good.

Food was very good and service was pretty good too. Large portions, enough to split so as not to get over stuffed. Salads are large. Pretty good seafood and a great view.

Oh Conch Cafe.......we used to love you. We decided to give the cafe another chance after it moved and came under new ownership (or something like that). We came around 8 on a Sat night, this week being Easter week/spring break we could expect it being busy. What we didn't expect was to about to be seated, walking towards our table when in comes a group taking our table. Three other large groups decided it was too cold outside and left the hostesses (who didn't seem to know what they were doing) confused and scurrying to accommodate them while other customers coming in we're forced to wait. There were several two seater tables open and after 20 minutes of waiting the hostess finally got the bright idea to put the tables together so they could seat us. There were three of us, the hostess then said the waiter would be a while to serve us. All around the waiter was awesome and very nice, this is why I give this place three stars. The food was "meh". My mom had the seafood chowder and she loved it, my brother and I had the she crab soup, good but found shells in it multiple times which isn't good in a creamy bisque. I ordered the conch fritters which were all breading no conch. My mom ordered the honey soy glazed salmon which had no glaze and looked dry. The medium rare steak my brother ordered had to be sent back because it was very overdone. My grilled shrimp and crabcake meal--the shrimp were good, well flavored but the crabcake........one bite and I could tell they used canned meat. Couldn't eat it it tasted ammonia-ish. Again the only reason I'm giving this place three stars is because the waiter was a rockstar and once he served us, he served us quickly, magically refilled our drinks without us having to ask, was quick to correct the steak situation and was very very courteous and friendly even though it was obvious this little restaurant was not prepared for a busy Saturday night. Don't go here go to Bubba's Fish Shack instead.

Our favorite beachfront spot for bacon wrapped shrimp and fried flounder sandwiches!!!! Have been going to the Conch for years. Love it!!! Went recently and were disappointed in the margaritas (usually awesome) which are a great accompaniment to the above. Had a powdered too sweet taste. Will taste the mix on our next visit before we order. It may have just been an off day for the bartender.

We were in town visiting family and my mother-in-law wanted to take us to Conch Cafe for lunch. It is like other "dive bar/restaurants" in the MB area only the food was worse than usual. It's located right on the beach with plenty of roomy outdoor patio seating, so the view is nice. If you don't like melting away in the heat there is also some nice air conditioned indoor seating. Unfortunately my mother-in-law is all about the view so melt away we did. Service was pretty fast, as we were sat immediately and our drink orders were taken and delivered. The menu consists of some fried seafood, seafood sandwiches, burgers, and other ocean side dive bar fare. Silly ol' me went with the pulled pork sandwich ($8.50). I said to myself, "hey, I'm in the South...this local restaurant has to have good pulled pork." I was so wrong. The pork was a big pile of mush that looked more like tuna salad and had absolutely no char. Fortunately the BBQ sauce that is served along with it was not all that bad and helped mask the paste of the obviously processed pork. The cole slaw that came with it did nothing to help...not only was it bland and flavorless but it was semi-warm, which is no way for slaw to be. The miss' didn't fair much better. She ordered a crab cake sandwich ($10), and while the crab cake was more crab than filler, it was tragically under-seasoned and had no flavor. My mother-in-law got a burger which she said was good. I stole one of her fries and I did like that it was a very potato-y . In the end, the Conch Cafe is not for me. I'm sure if I went for some late night drinks and fried appetizers while watching the sun set on the beach, it might be good for that. However, based on the food I had today there is no way I would go back for a full on lunch or dinner meal.

Went there for lunch with my family since it was only a few block from where we stayed. The main selling point for the restaurant is its view. You can't beat being located on the beach with a panoramic view of the ocean. The view alone is worth eating here. The food was great too, we ordered a variety of dishes and all of them were really good. We also ordered a pitcher of Sangria, while greatly refreshing, it could have use a little red wine in it. Staff was very courteous and professional, even suffering us thru the looooong process of taking picture of all of us at the table ;)

We love the sweet potato fries. They're not shoe string. Eating outside with a pitcher of our favorite drink is heavenly.
